Place a medium pot on medium-high heat and bring 3 cups of water to a boil.
Add 3 large cloves of crushed garlic.
When the water begins to boil, add the basa fillets and continue cooking until the water returns to a boil.
Add fish sauce, salt, sugar, chicken soup base mix, and put the fermented fish in a strainer and place it into the boiling broth to melt it.
Skim off the foam for having a clear broth.
Once it starts boiling, take the fish out of the broth, and start pounding the fish but not too fine.
Then put the fish back into the broth that is still hot.
Add sliced green onion and stir to combine.
Serve with raw or cooked vegetables as desired.
This can be served with or without rice. The flavour can be adjusted as needed.
